Congratulations to our amazing Hanan for winning the Jacobs Fellowship for Outstanding MSc students!


It was a pleasure hosting an exceptional student from Dalyat al-Karmel in our lab, teaching them about biomimicry and biosensors. Thanks, Kayan and Hanan, for being part of this amazing project.


Farewell to Dr. Ofer, who successfully completed his doctoral journey in the lab and is now embarking on his postdoc adventure abroad. In honor of his departure, we organized a pasta workshop, and it was truly delicious. We’ll miss you, Ofer!

Prof. Ester Segal wins the Best Talk of PSST 2016 Conference Prize

PEster Segalrof. Ester Segal presentation on “1,000-fold sensitivity enhancement of porous Si biosensors for nucleic acid detection” was selected as the Best Talk of the PSST 2016 (Porous Semiconductors – Science and Technology). This is the second time in a row that Prof. Segal wins the prize. The series of PSST Conferences organized and held in Spain since 1998 is a unique and singular international scientific experience dedicated to porous semiconductors and promotion of their use in electronics, sensing, chemical and photochemical applications as well as in the life sciences.

Our group presents at the 2014 Researchers’ Night event

the group presentsEach year, the Technion invites the public to participate in the Researchers’ Night – a celebration of science and research for the whole family, sponsored by the Israeli Ministry of Science, Technology and Space and the European Union. Researchers’ Night takes place in some 300 cities throughout Europe and Israel. This year’s theme was water sciences.

Prof. Segal group has set up an impresive booth, presenting our technologies for monitoring and identification of different types of contaminations in water. During the event, our booth was also visited by the Technion’s president and the Israeli Minister of Science and Technology. Moreover, in this event, Prof. Ester Segal made a presentation focusing on the development of rapid detection techniques for microbial pathogens.

Naama Massad-Ivanir was awarded with picture of the placethe prestigious fellowship for the Promotion of Women in Science and Technology administered by the Israeli Ministry of Science. Out of 89 applications submitted to the Israeli Ministry of Science for the prestigious fellowship, Naama was selected to receive the award for her  research effort is to design and construct a label-free miniaturized biosensing platform for the detection and identification of microbial pathogens that could be deployed for in-field and rapid analysis of water.
